At Moot we are continually working on our movie, sometimes with the crack of a whip to keep those pixels flying forward.
All the green has been keyed or removed from each shot so that we may add the new environments, which are nearly all completed. Ryan Nellis is building layers upon layers from the container stacks of the harbor, through the streets of Hollywood, to the magical interior of Club Deva. The film is shaping up to be a unique visual and emotional ride.
It started with my creation of Trevor the Tabloid Paparazzo, a photo based web comic. Trevor was a cool character, totally of the time, when the internet was relatively new and the connection was super slow. His gal, an adult star, played by my wife Cindera Che. As time moved forward my feelings for the type of characters changed. While Trevor became Mattox, Cindera made it clear that she would no longer play a porn star. So China-Rain became the powerful witch Deva.
Here are a few of Mitch Watson’s words for Trevor: “Every job is different, so you’ve got to be prepared. I’ve been tracking Biddle for over a year. No margin for error. One thing you should know about me is that I’m not one of those pussies like Avedon who skulks around county fairs snapping shots of worn out milkmaids and shit-kickers who look like they’ve been the victim of one to many cattle mutations. I work in the city, and what I shoot is unrehearsed and ugly. Like I mentioned before, part of my job is lying for a living. I lie to get my information. I lie to get my shot. And if lying don’t work, lookin’ at this bed will tell you there’s always other options. Bottom line; get the story, anyway you can. ”

Three days hitting the convention floor, hookin’ new friends and fans of Moot. Great show. Less people than Wondercon only made for more time to connect with all the great folks who stopped by and got stoked with a free copy of Moot Mag in print. Lucky people when Moot blows up. They got something special, something special in my eyes. Time for us all to start MOOOTING really hard. The Moot Mag is free online here at http://www.mootmagmovie.com. Can’t beet that! Just gotta READ that, take the adventure without fear.
Two days till our next big convention. It ain’t comic con in San Diego, but that con be terribly hard to get into, on the 600 applicant waiting list for 2 years now. But who cares about that…
We are going to be doing some harcore MOOOTING at the Wizard World event in Anaheim, recruiting new Mooters to join the ranks of people not afraid to open their eyes to what isn’t normally seen: the supernatural world that exists all around us.
Free mags to the first 350 over the weekend. Then the free digital download. But nothing beats having Moot Mag in print, a work of art in your hand, to READ READ READ.
I hope people don’t forget about the importance of the words, you have to read to become involved in the story. And it’s great fun!
Been off the blog, got 24 hours to get the first edition of Moot Mag off to the printers. Lots has happened since my last post, Maya story made it into the mag, it’s an amazing story, but she’s completely gone missing, so it’s also sad.
Moot Mag will be here in time for Wondercon and then we are going to be at Wizard’s Anaheim Comic Con. Exciting times ahead.
